Sustainable Transport

High-quality, reliable, electric public transport with reasonable frequencies can greatly help reduce our carbon footprint:

  • Vehicles are taken off the road, thus reducing pollution and traffic congestion.
  • The square footage of parking needed in city centers is reduced because it is accessible by public transport. Therefore, freeing space that can be made available for parks, schools, hospitals, etc.

Besides the environmental benefits, it also improves our quality of life:

  • It allows us to read or relax on the subway.
  • Young people who are too young to own a car enjoy greater freedom of movement, and it is safer.
  • People who cannot, do not want to, or do not feel capable of driving have a dignified and affordable alternative for independent travel.

The Alliance for Climate Emergency urges the government to continue working to provide:

Underground

  1. Increased frequency of service so that Line 2 will run every 12 minutes.
  2. A new stop to be located on the opposite side of La Vallesa.
  3. Improved conditions for transporting bicycles.

Bicycles

Bicycles are a healthy way to get around the world. With the arrival of folding and electric bikes, it's even easier to incorporate them into everyday life.

Marxa en Bici

At the Alliance for Climate Emergency, we organize an annual bike ride from the town of L'Eliana to the city center of Valencia to raise awareness and promote sustainable mobility.

Bike lane networks

The Alliance for Climate Emergency, along with other local groups, is trying to talk to local authorities so that:

  • The network of bike lanes in our area should be better connected.
  • More resources should be allocated to its maintenance.
  • Schools and colleges should be taken into account in the planned routes as part of the "school-bike paths" (college-friendly routes).
