Cities that Walk

La Eliana and Paterna are two of the cities that have joined the Ciudades que Caminan network, an international non-profit association that promotes sustainable mobility and the improvement of public spaces for pedestrians.

Other municipalities are already part of the network, such as Valencia, Alicante, Barcelona, and many other Spanish cities.

The plan is to leverage the technical and outreach support offered by the Network to transform cities, and also to involve citizens in this new vision for a more sustainable future.

Its main objective is for pedestrians to be the central figures in urban mobility and public space.

Joining the Network implies a commitment to improving public space as a place to walk, relax, and socialize. Projects are being undertaken to promote walkability and, related to this:

    • Sustainable mobility
    • Universal accessibility
    • Road safety
    • Urban environmental quality
    • And children's autonomy
